The real secret to building a lean, muscular physique...

The secret is, there is no secret.

CreveCoeur Observation:

  • A great body results from the consistent application of disciplined training and proper eating/lifestyle

Years of dedicated training and Healthy Lifestyle will indicate there no quick fixes or miracle training programs.

  1. Eat smart/nutritious (Healthy)
  2. Proper rest & balanced training (Recovery w/ Progressively difficult training to promote growth)
  3. Train with heart, discipline and knowledge. (Intensity & Dedication)

Another secret for you: The relevance of the specific type of resistance training you do is overrated. Vastly.

Your diet is the primary determiner of your level of progress and what your body looks like. Training is necessary but it's a far second.

An old trainer trick: When you get a new client/athlete, ask him what he's been doing in the gym as far as exercises, sets, reps, and splits go. Then, do the opposite with him. Chances are the change will reignite his progress.

"You have to get bigger because you can’t flex bone." If you can feel bone in your upper arms, shoulders, upper legs and lats, then yes, you need to gain some fast mass!

• The obesity rate of the Amish is 4%. The obesity rate of the rest of the US population is 26%.
The Amish typically eat a higher fat diet (bacon, eggs, butter) although they're obviously not driving their buggies though the Burger King drive-through often. So what's the main reason for this discrepancy? The answer is NEAT: Non-exercise activity thermogenesis.
In other words, the Amish simply move around a lot more. The average adult Amish male takes about 18,000 steps per day. The typical American male takes 7000 or fewer (and women take only around 5000.)

"Our cells are little factories which rely on proteins as machinery (not to mention all the signaling peptides in the endocrine and paracrine systems). increasing protein intake increases whole body protein turnover, including organ tissue which processes these nutrients. so limiting protein to minimal need, limits the replacement of the cellular apparatus which performs the work.

Oddly enough, like real machinery, cellular machinery wears out. reactive oxidative species and all. so this would be rate of aging increasing. which means you are dying faster. obviously the system as a whole will be less productive and unable to replace or repair machinery at optimal levels.
So in summary, eat less protein, die faster..."

TC on Marriage:

TC:

"As soon as you get married, the Goddess becomes a mere mortal. Out come the sweat pants. Out goes the make up. All that exotic underwear that she used to turn you into a slobbering lap dog with an erection about yay big? It lies moldering in a little used drawer. Once in awhile, you furtively slip into the bedroom to excavate a pair of those exotic, memory-filled panties, place then against your face and snort like a pig looking for truffles, but instead of getting a scent of her perfumed Hoo-Hah, you just get a dose of Lemon Pledge and have to make an appointment to see an asthma specialist."
