CreveCoeur's Supplements in order of priority:

"Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, with no purpose or place. We have no great war,... no great depression. Our great war is a spiritual war. Our great depression is our lives. We were raised by television to believe that we'd all be millionaires and movie gods and rock stars -- but we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed-off."
-Tyler Durden

An often asked fitness question and usually in this phrase, "What's your secret"

Supplements are a small part of overall fitness/health and should

only be invested in after proper nutrition is squared away.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids:

- Increase insulin sensitivity, which has positive effects on both muscle building (facilitating nutrient transport to the muscle) and fat loss (reducing the amount of nutrients stored as fat).
- Increase the body's use of fat for fuel, especially when exercising.
- Improve nervous system recovery/regeneration and function.
- Improve cardiovascular health by improving blood flow, reducing triglycerides ("bad" fatty acids), as well as the formation of plaque and blood clots
- Reduce inflammation and promote healing.

Nothing else is as effective at putting the body in fat burning mode, aiding muscle growth, and enhancing general health.  To put muscle on and lose fat, take at least 30 g of fish oil a day. Yes, that’s not a misprint – 30 g.  Some clients find that levels as high as 45 g yield the most spectacular results.

Additional excellent reasons for using fish oil include:
1. It reduces inflammation - a factor that is increasingly recognized as aiding longevity and reducing the risk of chronic conditions such as heart disease and cancer.
2. It improves insulin sensitivity – therefore allowing glucose and amino acids to be delivered into your muscle cells rather than being diverted to fat cells

Saturated fats (with some exceptions) DECREASE insulin sensitivity (bad) while unsaturated fats (especially the omega-3s) INCREASE insulin sensitivity (good).

Omega-3s are anti-inflamatory while omega-6s and saturated fats are pro-inflamatory.

"The studies come in on omega-3's and pregnancy almost daily. We already know that kids with almost any behavioral malady you can think of have lower levels of omega-3's. Murderers, for gods sake, have low levels of omega-3's. People with attention issues, vision issues, memory issues, circulation issues, you name it, have low levels of omega-3's. As Robert Crayhon once said, if I could make one change to the diet of America that would have the greatest good for the greatest number, it would be to make sure that every pregnant woman in America takes omega-3's."-Dr. Jonny Bowden

"
In one experiment, rats fed a diet consisting of 14% fish oil had serum leptin levels 70% higher than the control group"-Polyunsaturated fatty acids up-regulate plasma leptin in insulin-resistant rats.J Nutr. 2002 Aug;132(8):2235-40.

The seeds (especially the seeds!) are a great source of something called lignans which have a whole host of health benefits of their own, for both men and women. Lignans have a protective effect against cancer, especially those that are hormone-sensitive like breast, uterine and prostate cancer

"When you combine creatine and beta-alanine, your training volume goes up and you get stronger."
Vitamin C  Costco/Sam's ~$8  Research shows it helps burn fat and is anti-oxidant

ZMA Raised in Feb. 2008 from $9 to $15!   Biotest 90ct-30Day Supply

Zinc is a very anabolic element. Its effect on healing, tissue repair, and muscle growth is maximized during sleep. The largest daily burst of natural growth hormone occurs during stage 3 and 4 sleep (about an hour and a half after going to sleep). The chief synergists that potentiate the effect of growth hormone are insulin, testosterone, zinc, and magnesium. So, this is the time you want zinc and magnesium at a peak level in the bloodstream. I believe that the major reason we achieved such dramatic study results, in terms of increasing testosterone and IGF-1 levels, is because one, the product did not contain a calcium based filler, and two, it was taken on a fasted stomach 30 minutes before bedtime.

Five hormones raise blood sugar, only one lowers sugar: insulin. That is because we are designed to eat a natural diet. In the recent past, several studies have demonstrated hypoglycemic properties of fenugreek seeds in both animal and human studies, thus, lending support to its traditional use.

CT's Sleep Stack:

- BEFORE BED: ZMA 1 serving, GABA 5g, Glycine 10g, 5-HTP 200mg, inositol 500mg, vitamin B3 15mg

* Really feel wired add 5-10mg of melatonin.

The "before bed" stack is to promote relaxation, sleep and neural regeneration. When I'm on a low-carb diet I have a really hard time sleeping. And as we know, sleep is necessary for growth and lowering cortisol.

I think that we all know by now the benefits of ZMA on the quality of sleep and recovery, especially in individual deficient in zinc and magnesium; well I'm a sweaty pig so I lose a ton of these minerals every day.

GABA and glycine are inhibitor of the nervous system in that they promote relaxation and have a calming effect. They have also been shown to reduce anxiety and stress. For this reason both products promote restful sleep. GABA has also been shown to promote the release of growth hormone and glycine helps lower cortisol.

5-HTP can help increase the level of serotonin and thus can help fight insomnia, depression and narcolepsy. In other words it will help you relax. As an added benefit it seems to reduce carbohydrates cravings (you get carb cravings when serotonin levels are low since carbs raise serotonin) which is a nice benefit when on a low-carb diet.

Inositol and B3 facilitate the action of GABA via different pathways and thus make the stack a bit more effective.

Glycine is a neural relaxant which in turns lowers cortisol.

Creatine, glycine and glutamine also increase intermuscular pressure so does glycerol. In fact, glycerol is used by both pre-contest bodybuilders and endurance athletes to keep the muscles hydrated

FYI: Most sleep aids will put you to sleep faster, but there's a huge difference in the type and quality of sleep you'll get from them.

For example, many sleep aids will knock you out, sure, but while using them you won't get much REM sleep, the "dreaming" and replenishing sleep. (The body naturally cycles through waves of REM and NREM throughout the night.)

So, with most sleeping pills, especially those actually made for colds and pain, you wake up feeling groggy and almost hungover. You slept, but you're not replenished: lack of REM sleep.

As an aside, alcohol also decreases REM, and part of the feeling of a hangover is caused by lack of replenishing sleep, even if you were passed out 10 hours.

So, think quality, replenishing, restorative, healing sleep, not just getting knocked out by something you found in the Wal-Mart pharmacy section.

CreveCoeur's Energy Balance(For Muscle/Weight Gain):

CreveCoeur's: Wt. 150lbs/2.2=68.18Kgs x .07%BF= 4.7726FatMass  68.18Kg-4.7726FM= 63.4074FatFreeMass 63.4074FFMx22+500= 1894.9628 or(RMR=1895) 1895RMR x 1.7= 3221.43676 1895x.10=189.5 TEF so  3221.5+189.5= 3411 Cals needed Daily

*The body adapts to energy intake by regulating tissue turnover. Therefore if you eat more, tissues turn over faster and you can replace damaged muscle more quickly with fresh, strong muscle... when eating such high calories (while choosing good foods), your metabolic rate will adapt and you'll be able to eat far more calories than before without gaining much fat.

Dr. Jeff Volek: Latest research regarding carbohydrate restriction and low carb diets.

Ironically, this session was called "The Carbohydrate Restriction Controversy," but in the end there wasn't a controversy in sight. If you want to lose weight and be healthier, then you need to cut back on your carbs (especially starches).

?????

The protocol for insulin resistance is:

Fenuplex: 2 caps per meal
Insulinomics: 2 caps per meal
Ultra HCL 3.0: 2 caps per meal (for me)
High doses of fish oil (I use 9-12 caps of Flameout)

I also use:
Phosphatidylserine: 320mg post-workout and with supper
Glycine: 5g per meal
Glutamine: 10g per meal (to counter the acidity of the protein foods)

?????   Fenuplex: two capsules, three times a day. Besides restoring insulin sensitivity, Fenuplex will heal the pancreas and cut down on carbohydrate cravings.
Insulinomics: one tablet, three times a day
